Invitation to participate in International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Men

Dear ADVIP Colleague,

As you know, domestic violence is a problem that affects both men and women. A compilation of 343 scholarly investigations conducted in 40 countries around the world concluded that “women are as physically aggressive as men (or more) in their relationships with their spouses or opposite-sex partners.” (https://www.researchgate.net/publication/261543769_References_Examining_Assaults_by_Women_on_Their_Spouses_or_Male_Partners_An_Updated_Annotated_Bibliography

In order to disseminate information about the often-forgotten male victims of abuse, the Domestic Abuse and Violence International Alliance (DAVIA) is sponsoring the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Men, which will be held on November 18: https://endtodv.org/coalitions/davia/idevam-2022/

The 55 DAVIA organizational members will be involved in a broad range of activities at the international and local levels. On November 18 for example, DAVIA will be holding a press conference titled, “The Hidden Epidemic of Domestic Violence and Abuse of Men: An International Perspective.”

Would your counselling practice/office like to join forces with DAVIA and have the opportunity participate in the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Men? If so, please drop me a note at edwardbartlett@comcast.net

Our monthly Zoom meeting is coming up on Tuesday, and we’d like to be able to introduce you to the group! Looking forward to hearing from you.

Best
