I have been employed at OnTrack Inc. for the past 11 years as a counselor/facilitator of (WAV) Women’s Alternative to Violence. WAV is a 30 to 36 week program for women who have been court order to treatment as offenders and or victims of domestic violence. OnTrack is primarily a Drug and Alcohol treatment facility with Domestic Violence services, DUI services, Mental Health support, Pain Management, HIV Ed., residential and outpatient housing.
I have developed a manualized program for female victim’s and female perpetrator’s of domestic violence, which draws heavily from the Seeking Safety framework developed by Lisa Najavits PhD. The program serves an average of 100 women per week. We hope to empirically test this model in the near future.
The women that I serve are referrals from Probation and Parole, Dept. of Human Services, Mental Health therapists and other local agencies. We offer 2 groups per week for women offenders, 2 groups per week for women victims and two groups per week for women who identify as primary victims who have become aggressive.
After the completion of Batterers Intervention and or WAV services, select couples, who have been vetted by all involved community partners, are offered domestic violence couples counseling.
